Beauteous Banana Bread


3 lg. ripe bananas
1 c. sugar
1 egg
4 tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
and cooled
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. each salt and baking soda
Walnuts, chopped (optional)


Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. In bowl mash bananas, you should have 1 cup. Beat in sugar, then egg and butter. In other bowl, stir together flour, salt and baking soda; add to banana mixture a little at a time, just until all flour is moistened. Add walnuts if desired. Pour batter into a pan and bake 55 to 60 minutes until toothpick inserted in bread comes out clean.
