Bran Banana Bread
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. bran
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nutmeats
Work shortening until creamy. Add sugar gradually. Add beaten egg and beat well. Add all other ingredients and mix until flour disappears. Pour in an oiled loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3 inches with waxed paper in bottom. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until well done.
